    its a lot less bover with a hover

    One from today's stroll around the garden. It was quite tricky to get a decent image due to the gusty wind. I know what the flower is but... quite what flavour of Hover Fly it is I shall leave to those more knowledgeable.

    Looks like Eupeodes corollae female.

        Good pose Peter but the colours don't look quite right - harsh light or colour balance maybe

          Thanks Stan, Ive just run an auto White Balance on it in LR which gives this, is it any better

            Still not right Peter but cant put my finger on it - if you look at these google images, this is more what it should look like despite any variation in the light - the segments are a definite yellow and black

              I wonder if it's the flower reflective colour causing the issue Stan. This is the full frame image with the same processing and resizing but without any crop. It was very bright at the time I made the image, you can see the reflection of the sky on the shiny parts behind the head.

                could be what is causing the blue bits where they should be black too
