I suppose that's your 'macro' combo again

          Another stunning effort...

          Cheers...

Feel free to edit & re-post as you see fit - but please - tell me what you have done to 'improve' the shot!

Stan, you are rewriting the macro guide book with shots like this using lens combinations that are not really macro lens combinations.
Great shot....but....are you really sure this is a female....

OK so just a month or so to go with these....then I suppose it will be "fungi time"....

yes 300 f4 and converter. It gives the flexibility in case of other opportunities arising, ie birds etc. As I said before though its not much good for very small creatures as they would end up much too small in the frame (min focus distance is about 1.4 metres) and thats where the macro is needed, like with the Dozy Bee, needed the macro to get colse enough to pull out the fine detail.
Great shot....but....are you really sure this is a female....
mature males are red/orange, immature males have quite a lot of yellow tinged with red and females are yellow. The shot i posted last week I think was an immature male which is why i described this one as female - no sign of any red. However i could be wrong, it might be another immature male. I will see if I can get a definite answer from an expert later
then I suppose it will be "fungi time"....
oh yes and with the proper macro lens - we have a couple of good places in the forest we've been to the past couple of years
