I too kthis a while back in the Arnside and Silverdale area. A small pond a friend took me to. There were lots of them about and so plenty of chances to get this shot...

Yes; I believe they are 'Common Blue' Damselflys...are they damselflys?
First is a male; second male & female (thankfully !!!)
