European Mantis ?

I took this this morning (in Italy at present)...it was on the stairs. When I got back with the camera it was hanging onto a potted plant...quich research suggests its a European Mantis....not technically excellent I know...

...why didn't I bring a flash (I thought i'd only need the 2 bodies, 7 lenses)

Good try with the first shot, but the second one works the best.
