    Hairy Dragonfly

    My first dragonfly of the season. I used F8 which I don't think gave enough depth of field. Need more practice.

        f8 is about right, otherwise you tend to get too much detail in the background showing through. With the first you would have needed to move around in order to get the whole length of the dragonfly in the plane of focus, with the second, whatever aperture you would have been unlikely to get the wings in focus
        I probably spent around 5 minutes shooting and moving to different positions to ensure the whole length was focussed
