    Cabbage White

    Probably not the best lens to be using as I had to stand miiles away, but taken wandering back to the car, I do not normally do these things, so its a change for me.

      Personally I don’t have any issue using a long lense on a subject like butterflys; if they’re landed you need to keep a distance away so they are not disturbed. And they normally don’t hang about long either so there is not the opportunity to use a shorter closer focus lense.

      The biggest problem I have photographing them is that they just keep on flying, either out of sight or they go you can’t get to or if they do land its not where you can take a photo! I’ve missed a couple recently for this.

      Your picture looks good, nice background to show it off.

        Super shot Tony.

        Long lenses are my choice for butterflies and dragonflies as there is far less chance of spooking them. Nearly always use my 300 f4 and converter hand held - of course using a 500 f4 would be a different beast
