    Blue Tailed Damsels

    Hi Guys,

Gave myself a challenge to catch these fast little things. Taken again at Weston Turville Reservoir.

First time I have tried to photo a damsel fly, man they are quick. Had to crop quite a bit as could not get very close. WDYT

    Re: Blue Tailed Damsels

You have done very well for a first time with a very tricky subject - whereas the dragons and demoiselles will perch quite happily for a few seconds the damsels seem to just flit here there and everywhere and when they do perch it is usually among the reeds and grasses so you cant get a good background. With your shots both the backgrounds are a bit bright and are competing with the damsels for attentio. Desaturating and darkening would help
