    Yes, Peacock very nice David. I don't like criticising people pictures, but I would have turned that up the other way -- then I would not have had to hold my monitor up side down

      Nice capture, now that looks in too good nick for an over wintered one, it might have not long hatched from it's Chrysalis..

        Thought they 'hatched' in the autumn and then hibernated over winter. May well be wrong as its something I recall hearing when I was a youngster.

              Adults overwinter then breed around now then young emerge in mid summer, I get adults in my sheds often in the winter, but they usually look more dog eared than this one, with climate change there could be a chance of earlier emergers, though to be fair up where David lives is less likely.

                Seen one or two 'dog-earred' individuals. Quite large bits of wings missing.

                  Thank you all for your comments, we have never had so many Peacocks in our garden, of the 8 or so in this one area, none of them looked scruffy in fact in prime condition. A couple of Comma’s were tatty, but the Small Tortoiseshell were perfect. It was a mild winter for us if that may have affected them?
