Big Caterpillar - sorry 900 px wide

A bit shocked to see this in my garden, about the length and thickness of the average man's small finger.

The false eyes on it's head make it look snake like, I'm guessing for protection, any ideas what it is ?

Softness due to 1/20 and the thing was moving

Nice image good to see, but it's a creature only it's mother can love.

Just been and looked up the elephant hawk moth... (its big) LOL

Think I prefer the caterpillar over the moth.

Yes Brain a sedum, they look well at this time of year.

I agree Ray, not the prettyist creature, 1st time I ever saw one.

I'm not sure what size the moth is Di - looks a bit weird to me, wouldn't want it flying round the box room where my computer lives :-)

Found this one of the same thing shows the spike on it's tail better and might be a better image technically.
