      Likewise, Stan
Having now sold my 70-200L and Tamron Macro, this could be my next purchase.

Nice shot Stan, is there any more detail that can be pulled out on the antenna as it looks on my monitor that you can see one very nicely but only the tip of the other which apears directly above the head.

The 100 + new flash are definitely a very good match

Lovely Stan...really enjoyed all your flutterby pics. I tried whilst a bristol Zoo but the light was appalling and they never seemed ro settle for long.

                        Thanks Guys

if you look closely all the antenna is there just most of it is black and blends in - not sure any more detail to be had there

I tried whilst a bristol Zoo but the light was appalling and they never seemed ro settle for long.
it wasnt that light for me - it was the flash that really provided the exposure. They do tend to be more active when it is warm. At Wye Valley on Monday it was very warm in the morning and they were all over the place but after lunch it was much cooler and many of them just stayed put for minutes at a time

seems to be working OK for you Stan, I'm beginning to wish I hadn't encouraged you to get that lens -you made my life hard enough before you had it!

trouble is Brian, I like it so much I am constantly looking for opportunities to use it - my autumn leaf is fine but not usually the lens to use for an eagle

I've shot a plane with mine so there's no reason why you can't shoot an eagle (mind you - it ends up looking like a very sharp but very small one if you do )
