    Haiti Dragonfly

Hi all, just back from two weeks in Haiti. Some interesting insect life (one of our team found a tarantula on his bed!). I stuck with something a bit less intimidating and managed a few shots of some lovely dragonflies.

First shot was a bit underexposed so a bit soft in processing, but I like the composition.

All with Canon 40D and Canon 70 - 300 IS USM

Tried to get a hovering shot, but they proved to be far too quick for me!

Thanks Stan, they sure are spectacular - I saw even brighter ones, almost like neon signs, but not where I was able to try for some shots.

No 1 was an almost - it alighted and I took a couple of quick shots with the settings I had, which were about a stop and a bit under exposed, by the time I reset the camera he was away again! I just like the pose.

Cheers Robin, very good trip - we completed all we set out to do. First attempt at dragon flies, especially as large as these, but they don't half move quickly!
