The Dance of the Adders

We went to the BWC yesterday and with spring in the air found the adders very active and were so lucky to witness, not once but twice the dance of the adders. The 'dance of the adders' was originally thought to be a mating display, but it is a larger male attempting to drive off a smaller one as the snakes writhe around each other

It was a toss up yesterday for me between BWC and WWT Barnes, and I opted for the latter... and have nothing to show for my day, other than a nice sandwich at lunch! Some you win, some you lose. No worries, I had a pleasant stroll in the sunshine (but would have preferred some shots like yours!)

thats how it goes sometimes although at Barnes last week we did come away with the goslings and little grebe.

The adders were very active yesterday and in fact we spent a good part of the day watching them
