    Green Woodpecker

Feeding on Stanpit Marsh. I like the way the grass and flower colours of the background mirror the bird

        Thanks David and Stephen

        Is this a male?
it looks to be a male due to what i think is a red stripe along the throat - according to my book the female has black

Nice capture, especially with the BG colour matching!

                  Re: Green Woodpecker

Love the photos, that's quite a beak he is sporting! We have one that comes to our garden but is very nervous and rarely stays for any time.

The background matches the bird's plumage perfectly. Great shot.
