    Kingfisher

I am not quite getting the sharpness I would like, the auto focus has been used as it's a moving subject, but it's not as crisp as I would like, I think the extender might be the problem. This was shot using the 100-400L with a 1,4 extender fitted.

Great video Burnie, you must have been very patient.

Thanks Bill apart from a distant Heron and a few passing even more distant waders, this was all we saw. Had about an hour to wait, so not too bad.

Good footage Burnie. With regards to the softness I would do a few test runs with and without the extender - say birds in the garden park etc.

If I edited it down there are some very usable bits in it, just frustrating that it drifts out of focus, some of that due to me moving the camera, I will go back and try again.

Think that may be the problem, too much camera movement, let the subject do the moving if possible

Problem using a mk 1, 100-400 lens, when I want to use the zoom it moves the camera on the tripod, I zoomed out to get a chance of the bird diving into the water, which of course it didn't do, it would have had I not touched the lens, every days a school day.. When I use a lens with a rotary operated zoom, I can use the focus follower, which doesn't move the camera about, I need a mk ii 100-400 lens really.

Yes can see your point, one of the downsides of the Mk1
