Apologies for not embedding the pictures directly. All I could do was try S_J_Ps workaround whereby you can post a link without getting the server error.

            Re: Newborn

Thanks guys. I know very little about lighting and don't have a clue how to use flash properly yet, let alone any proper lighting.

With this one we were in a pub for lunch and there happened to be a 50w halogen right above them. At the time I thought it was making life very difficult due to the shadows being cast but it gives you options when you process it later in Lightroom & Silver Efex Pro.

I just tried to darken down everything else to make it a bit more atmospheric.

Thanks everyone. I think this confirms what I thought - when you have some poor lighting or surroundings you can't do much about you can always make something from it in B&W :)

#1 is cracking (never tell the truth, what your meant to say is it took hours setting up to get the perfect light lol .)

haha. My argument is taking hours to get perfect lighting = less creative lol

I just learned from something I had tried before with this one:

Clare & Alan Bettney by Lee Rigby, on Flickr

That was taken in a crappy old club with rubbish light and surroundngs so I went home and mucked about trying to isolate the subjects and a nice picture suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I nearly deleted it :)

The first is a gorgeous shot. Really fantastic. The others are good, but the B&W really stands out, whatever the lighting conditions you had, you maxed out on them!!!

Really like the black and white one.

Sometimes all the planning in the world won't get a image that you like. Hope Mum likes it.

Thats what I love about photography. I barely know what I'm doing, never do any planning, have no lighting set up and sometimes just get plain lucky :)

                              Yes mum loves it.
