    Kitten Time

    Hi All,

Been out of the house to see a friend's new kittens. There was a lovely beam of light coming in through the window, so I enticed them into the light and took the image. All hand held as I was unable to take my tripod with me, as it is broken.

With the two portraits I wanted to try and isolate their individual characters, so I used light and aperture in order to ignore the background distractions; the third picture was the right place at the right time.

    C 'n' Cs welcome.

You've made beautiful use of the shaft of light.

Really like the interaction between the pair that you've caught on number three. But for direct looking at the lens and keeping the eye focused with using the shadows as an interior framing then number one as to take the lead.
Also have to say... crafty bit of design on your copyright.

No1 best of these. B&W and shaft of light work well.

Very nice portraits Tom but not sure about the magenta tint - I think they would look better with a "natural" B & W tint

Hi everyone, thanks ever so much for stopping by and commenting on my latest images, very much appreciated. Stan, I processed the image in Silver FX Pro - I love Silver FX Pro - where I used about 51% silver toning in the deep blue part of the spectrum. IMHO this treatment and a bit of burning added an overall richness to the image in which contrast and exposure couldn't match. I must say though I hadn't noticed it that much, my mate was really happy. I've just re-done with a slight reduction in the toning to 47%, this I can see the same depth but with less colour cast.

Dee, on the crafty copyright design: thanks for the pleasing comment, my name is a graphical nightmare to use in a design! I think it works.

Again thanks for all the useful comments.
