    Wedding on Saturday

It's not long till Saturday, I'm still working on getting all the poses I want. Most things are sorted and on a spreadsheet which has been shared with the couple....any last pearls of wisdom please?

you say the poses you want ....but have you asked the couple? ;o)

other than daft things like spare flash & camera batteries, lens cloth - I'm sure you've already worked all the other stuff out like which lens and fill in flash so the rest is just you having a good voice and being able to control a crowd...thats the HARD part of a wedding

Yep....all on the spreadsheet thanks....I think I can organise people....more concerned about being over bossy. I have access to the reception venue tomorrow morning and I'm in on the rehearsal on Friday night....I think I've got it covered....not sure if I'm exited or nervous, maybe they are the same thing.
Thanks for your comments....anything else you think of them let me know.

Get the maid of honour / chief bridesmaid and the best man (or both) on your side at the rehearsal, take them through what you need, and then on the day, use them to help co-ordinate people outside of the venue. Give them copies of the spreadsheet and the schedule. While you're taking one set of shots, have them ready to start organising people for the next set. Be firm, but polite, but firm. You're there to make sure the Bride and Groom have photographs they'll love for ever, and if that means being a bit firm with some tardy family members, then so be it.

Have a backup shot option for every shot you want (what if the shot can't be done due to rain, or a collapsed balcony, or dead geese littering the floor, etc.)

Do any guests have access requirements which might make your choice of shot difficult (e.g. any wheelchair users who won't be able to get on to the great step you picked out in front of of the venue, etc.)
        Tony.

don't be you have to control the crowd otherwise you won't stand a hope of getting the shots you want - take control of the bride & groom as everyone else will follow

Brian, one thing to remember is to tell the group before you take the photo to look at your camera only. You will find others taking photos at the same time and you will end up with a few wandering eyes if you don't. Good luck!

                    Re: Wedding on Saturday

                    Hi Brian
I read a good article some time back on what to do if you are pressed into doing a wedding and remember a couple of good tips I pass on.
Use a tripod for the formal shots (it creates space for you even if you take the camera off the tripod and apparently most folks defer to you), take two photos for each shot (in case someone blinks so you fix easily in PS), and count 3,2,1 for each shot so everyone looks at you for each shot. I also read its a good idea to get the best man to organise the folks for the shots.
Hope it helps and good luck
                    Cheers
                    Dave

                      Re: Wedding on Saturday

Well I haven't left the country...the wedding went really well...I don't know where the 14 hours went from hair salon at 8:30 am to when I left the reception. I'm sorting through 912 images, once done I'll post some....although I say it myself I have some really good shots....can't wait to finish processing them. Thanks again for all the advice...

                          900!! ;o) ...

Thats going to keep you busy

its so funny how digital has changed wedding photography, when I was doing it for a studio it was either 12, 24 or maybe if you were flash 36 photos ;o) but the bulk of weddings were 24
