    Foster & Allen in concert

The perenial favourites, Foster (Mick) & Allen (Tony) gave a brilliant concert yesterday. I took my excellent 760D + 55-250mm STM lens (much lighter & better reach than my 24-105mm lens), and took these without flash;manual mode TV 125;AV 5-6-6.3;auto ISO, auto WB).

      Nice set.

A quick question: do you have to get permission to take these or are you just a "normal" member of the audience? I know it's extremely common for people to take pictures with their smartphones these days but they are (or can be) completely silent. I've sometimes thought about taking my camera into a show but have never done so for the simple reason that I'd not be surprised if someone near me got a bit miffed were I to be clicking away with a DSLR during the performance.

Thanks Tom ,John, and Chris. I always get clearance (permission) for taking photographs before I take my camera. With some concerts photography is NOT allowed but in some, it is allowed. Recently (Sept) I went for a Daniel O'Donnell Concert in the Birmingham Symphony hall, where it was publicly announced that you CAN take photographs BUT no flash. Unfortunately I did not take my camera other than my Compact G15.In my recent case I asked for permission for a few photos which was granted but I was told not to use flash.I might add that for my local theatres, I am also a "friend of the theatre"(paying an annual subscription) & so I usually get the OK.

John,I don't think it is CA as the lighting changed for some songs- with that purple colour- singing of "Maggie" & "Evening Shadows make me blue! I also avoided taking some pics esp when the red light was switched on.

Chris,my advice is to always get permission either from the producers or the venue. Sometimes they will give you a little badge to pin on your jacket, and sometimes it is a verbal OK. Sometimes, like at my Cathedral, I am expected to take photos for certain events and services & NO special permission is required.

Thanks Stan. I took your previous comment made, with my Al Jolson pics, into consideration in taking these pics.

Thanks Bob. I had my metering on "partial" with 6 auto focus points active. My camera allows you to do this. Any further info please feel free to look at my exif which I always leave open- mainly for comment, where necessary.
