    Gun smoke.

    A musketeer in the re-enactment of the battle in Coleford 20th February 1643, between the Welsh Royalists army numbering 2000 men, and the Parliamentarian Regiment.
    Lucky to catch the musket firing with the musketeer with his eyes closed to protect them from the sparks.

          Well taken Chris. I remember watching the black powder brigade on the ranges at Bisley! Huge amounts of smoke.

              Nice shot, never fired a flintlock, but a pal turned up at our old clay pigeon ground and let me fire a percussion cap muzzle loader. There was that much smoke no-one knew if I hit the target or not.
              Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

                Nicely timed shot Chris.

                I fired one of these once - the delay between pressing the trigger and the actual bang was quite disconcerting but then I was rather more used to instant response of the modern propellants...
