First try with the 50mm/F1.8 & First try at portrait

    Hi all,

Since a few weeks I have a great new 'subject' for my photos, my newborn daughter Eline
A good reason to get me a 50mm lens.

These are my first shots and I'm quite happy with them (especially the first one).

WDYT? How could I improve pictures like these?

It goes without saying that I would greatly appreciate some tips on how to 'capture' my daughter in the best possible way

    Beautiful.

You must be very proud Rutger

Latest book I've got suggests shots of hands and feet... against Mum or Dads. Can't remember the sectiion completely, but pretty sure someone will come along with some other suggestions.

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter! Trouble with photographing babies for the first few weeks its a bit like "How can I get another shot of her sleeping!" Gets better after a couple of months when they start to interact a bit more. I like the first shot too - it is different and tells a story without being specific. Keep shooting, they grow up so quick and it is good to have a record of all the stages of the growing up process!

A lovely subject - think of the hours of fun you will have photographing her as she grows up
