    The Potter

    We went to the Hampshire County Fair at Broadlands over the weekend and as is usual at these things,its very difficult to get clean shots of anything much. Did spot this potter away in a corner though

    I like the shot, Stan. IMO, if you loose some of the top, it would be a much stronger portrait, but everything else is spot on.

      Tom I see your point.
      I'm not a fan of too much headroom, but on this occasion I have to disagree.

      My reasoning is that if someone is bent over like the subject is here.
      There should be enough room to allow for them to sit up straight.
      Cropping tighter the above the head in this particular situation can leave you with the subject lookiing like they're ducking/crouching down to stay within the frame.

      It's all subjective though, I'm just adding my personal thoughts.

        I dont do many portraits, so I was quite happy with the amount of room at the top, but wasnt quite sure why - I think your reasoning is spot on Trev
