    BW or colour?

Shot at a steam train line in Norfolk, UK. processed in Photoshop CS6 and Silver Efex Pro. I didn't have much time to shoot it as he was just oiling the train before he drove (is that the right word?) it out of the station - with me on it!

    Or perhaps the colour?

That subject should ideally favour the B&W image and as I scrolled down I couldn't conceive that colour would better it .............. but it did.

I am not a lover of mono photographs.
The 2nd image needs some colour desaturation as it hits you smack in the eye.
Are you able to keep the train in colour and keep the man in mono using PS?
I love the train in colour and the gentleman looks better desaturated or in mono (but don't tell his wife).

      ps. Welcome to the forum.

Yes, I did go a bit over the top there. here is a reworked version, with less blue.

Thanks, Stephen (and Colin). I just wish I could get good shot opportunities like this every day. Here is one more that I shot a few minutes before the other one. I liked the way he is on his knees, as if worshipping some machine-God.

The 2nd B&W just got my vote. The "revised" colour was number 1 but it has just lost the top spot.

Like the b&w but the colour outshines it.

Unusually I really like both the B/W & Colour version (especially the reworked version of #1) you are right about opportunities like that rarely available, but I think you made the most of what you had.
