I am as amazed as the passers by.

I have seen this type of thing before and can never work out how it's done. Nice capture, good composition and I like the people that stand well back, well confused, but not quite wanting to be a part of it.

I am seeing the darker patch on the ground, so I have just about worked out the mechanics.

You are right, it spoils the mystique.
