    Day out on the bikes

We had a day out to Woburn Sands yesterday on the mountain bikes with the idea of getting some portrait shots which depicted the sport.

    C&C welcome.

The images are all very good. Could not offer any critique for improvement as it appears that you have used available lighting to light the subject very well.

Technically the set is very good, but as you said you wanted a set of portraits to depict the sport these are all quite static. The subdued colours make them seem glum to me.

From what I know of the sport, this is far from the case!

Agree - great shots BUT they don't really depict the 'sport' - to me it shows the disinterest of youth. #1 is an absolutely cracking photo though.

PS: something I have picked up reading forums etc - watch your crops / framing as you are cutting off feet / toes.
Take nothing but photo's - leave nothing but footprints!

I love the first shot - not particularly sport related, but it is a youth statement that works very well.

Yes I kind of agree with you guys but hanging around watching these young lads doing these extreme sports you do notice some of them trying to be cool and moody specially when there girls about .

Number one for me. Makes a great portrait. The helmet, biker trousers, gloves and bike in the background are all part of him and who he is. But don't over power. Making the focus him and not his sport. Guess thats why it works for me.
