    Slow shutter zooming

I was at a music festival recently and experimented with an effect I'd seen but never tried: zooming in during a slow shutter exposure (these were all 1/4 secs). All pretty hit and miss but the results were interesting and it's clear it works best in low light with a smattering of bright points (daylight would need a ND filter):

And this one I used flash to freeze the portrait while the background continued to zoom:

        Thanks Folks

They were taken in one of the stage tents and normal photography wasn't working due to the low light and colour caste so it's nice that a bit of experimentation achieved some results. I was pleasantly surprised how successful the portrait turned out... but will have to try it again with a better subject (he's my mate Amyas and he won't see this)

        Cheers,
        John

John, great to try something new and thanks for sharing. I like the effect, but for me no 2 works the best because there is a fixed and recognisable element in it. Without that, perhaps it becomes a bit too abstract, if you see what I mean.
