    Abstract Hills

This pic I think will divide opinion! It did in the family, it appealed to me but not others!

I thought I would have a play with multiple exposure on fairy lights that are currently about in the house, several sets were taken with four exposures each using different multiple exposure modes and orientations and placing of the lights.

The original of this image was a set taken using dark mode and was edited in LR; it reminds me of distant hills perhaps at first light.

    As ever comments always welcome.

As you know Ian I am not a great lover of editing to this level, it does look like the Northern Lights.

Thanks David, much appreciated, I hadn't seen that in the pic (seeing the Northern Lights is an ambition of mine). It is so interesting to see how differently it is seen.

I’ve tried blowing it up and cropping to show the “best bits”. But for me it doesn’t do anything even then.
            sorry!

I'm a big fan of abstract and Christmas lights are a rich source but I think this was too much work for too little gain and far better results could be obtained from ICM or slow shutter zooming.
For example, last Christmas I posted < these > but concede that none of them have the nice softness of yours.

              Cheers,
              John

An interesting experiment and result….the result is an interesting image of colour and suggested form…in the absence of any subject information we are left with a visual of colour, shape and form….with most of the interest horizontally in the middle…so it’s a calm image …no sharp edges, diagonals, receding lines or anything to provide a dynamic. It’s attractive though perhaps a bit benign…thanks for posting this…it certainly made me think hard in appraising it for what my five penneth may be worth.

Many thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated. I thought that this was going to be an image that would get divided opinions and so it has proved.

It was interesting that some saw it in a totally different way but that is all part of the fun in an abstract image, it’ll work for some but not others and that is just fine.

                  Worth the posting I think.

That's amazing! Love the effect and the effort gone into creating it! This is why I love abstract!
