    Abstract smoke

Not particularly renowned for shooting abstracts but thought Id turn my hand to it - here are a couple I made earlier.

Nice shots ... I really like this effect.

It's one of the assignments in the book I am reading at the moment so will be giving it a try sometime - I'll be chuffed if I get as good a result as these.

Sure, very easy and straight forward.

Mount the camera on a tripod, the smoke is from an incense stick. Focus on the stick and lock the focusing off. Set the aperture to f8 and use a low ISO.

You need to set the flash off camera with a cord and shoot 90 degrees to the camera, illuminating the smoke. For a background I used an old black coat.

For the white background I simply inverted the colours during PP and boosted the red and blue channels.

          HTH.

Thanks gents hope it helps - thats why I used incense sticks and not cigarette smoke.
