Water Drops - Red on Blue

Couldn't resist getting the kit out yesterday, a lot quicker and easier to set up now my proper stand has arrived. Also an opportunity to try out my new gels.

Plain water in receiver, red food colouring in dropper and light blue gel on one flash. Shot with 100 f2.8 L IS, 1/160, f 16, ISO 200

Gorgeous Stan! I especially like No.2. I've not tried anything but plain water so far, but I really like the colour combinations.

        Cheers Steve and Chris

I have a set of different food colourings, red blue yellow and green, which i got from Asda a while ago for other projects - I think they were about 90p each. The only slight problem is that as the session goes on the plain tank starts to turn red as well, stopping you from getting the whole background blue

Though i would add this one in which was taken at the end of the session by which time the water is getting very dirty. What do others do - change the water after every few shots ?

I don't do upset ............... Mrs C is by far the expert in that!

Number 1 is the more difficult to achieve, but pictorially, I like number 2.

I tend to stir the catch-tank water quite often, when I am popping surface bubbles. I then change the water 2 or 3 times an hour.
