    Fireworks: Another display in Paignton

This display brought an end to Children's Week 2014.

While shot from the same location as the other Paignton Fireworks images I posted recently the blue touch paper was lit from a different place (the harbour), in less of a strong wind and probably by a different design team resulting in a nicer balance with more variety.

I set the camera to B and remote released the shutter between 7 and 10 seconds. There was some experimentation with aperture and ISO.

    Here's a sample:

Wow that first one is a cracking shot John. Never taken firework shots but you've inspired me to have a crack in a few months time ...

          Thanks Scott.

I think that's my favourite too. The relative lack of wind made some of the individual set pieces more balanced instead of being blown to one side. The downside of a lack of wind was that there were dozens of Chinese lanterns launched that crossed my shots and every one had to be cloned out in DPP.

It's really only these last two attempts where I've started to get results I'm happy with and that's all stemmed from the examples I've seen on and advice received from this forum so thanks to all.

          Cheers,
          John

Fantastic set. If I could get half that good I'd be well chuffed.

nice photos and made even better with the street lights in the background - I've got a big firework show coming off soon and will be looking for similar high view points

That's a great set, number one is superb.
You put my efforts from last year to shame, I deleted all mine as they were very poor!

Thanks Andy, I'm blushing I'm sure they weren't as bad as some of my early efforts that I dug out yesterday which were truly horrible.
