      Tom,

You will need as a minimum an adapter to connect the camera to the scope and a sturdy tripod. Also if you are taking extended time frame shots a star tracking device to move the telescope in alignment with the rotation of the earth as your subject is constantly moving across the night sky. It might not seem to be moving but be assured the night sky moves. Additionally a 1.5" telescope would probably not allow enough light to be transferred to the camera sensor for a decent resolution.

Try taking a shot without your telescope of the night sky on a exposure of 1sec or above and you will see the star trails.

Taking night sky shots need a bit of specialist equipment. I looked at the same thing with my Meade 90mm Maksutov Cassegrain mirror telescope but didn't bother as it was going to cost to much for the equipment.

Don't want to give a downer but to obtain decent shots you need a quality scope and gear.

thanks Malkie, was only thinking of moon shots nothing serious as ive only got a cheap scope, confused by t2 mount/adaptor(is it all one piece of kit?) and does it attach to the lens or the body, just dont want to waste cash on the wrong thing|

A t2 mount fits to your camera body the screws to the lens you will lose all your conections, and you will have to manul focus,( I cant remember the last time i did that)
Why not just try a long lens if you own one.

There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

I don't know what lenses you have for your camera but I got some reasonable shots of the moon using a 70-300 kit lens. There was an article in the Jan - March EOS Magazine, I found with my setup if I shot at 1/20th second at F16 with an ISO of 100 I got some good results. No you do not fill the image but you do get an image big enough to crop for a reasonable size print or wallpaper for the PC
