    The Colour Beyond

Didn't know what section to put this in, perhaps it's OK here?

What does one do on a cold, grey, damp afternoon in Essex? Look back at some old shots and try to emulate other great shots and techniques. No prizes for guessing who gave me the inspiration for this one

This is inside Kings College, Cambridge. I loved the view looking through but wanted something more. Have I achieved it? I'm sure you will all tell me

    lovely shot

Something I've been experimenting with recently, in fact you comment on the street image (Going Home - if you look at the girl on the bike you'll see shes standing right out, but the background /side has been pulled back), is rather than going full on colour pop is to pull saturation & vibrance down on the selected part you want. This pulls your towards the part of the image you want and doesn't have quite such a hard process as colour pop - just an idea

Interesting mate. I see what you mean. Have a go at mine if you wish

Certainly works for me, Alan, in fact I love it. Your eye gets drawn straight to the middle, but then the 'fence' pulls you back and you gradually see the detail around the edges like the pulpit.

Thanks Alex. I did wonder if it was a little busy hence softening the edges

Works very well, almost like it is painted with light rather than colour pop
