    The official 2010 'Show us yer Xmas Tree' thread...

    Just finished dressing ours; so thought I'd share & start a theme - hopefully...

    A great many of our baubles have been collected over many years from our travels around the world; so not only do we get to enjoy dressing the tree, but we get to reminisce at the same time...

    Happy Xmas one & all...

    I actively encourage constructive comment & critique of any image I post!
    Feel free to edit & re-post as you see fit - but please - tell me what you have done to 'improve' the shot!

          Hi bert uk;

          - 40D, Sigma 10-20 @ 20mm, Tripod & cable-release
          - Aperture priority @ f/16, ISO100, WB Tungsten, 3-shots bracketed; 1/2sec (-2EC), 2 secs (0EC) & 8 secs (+2EC)
          - RAW, processed in DPP for; slight adj on colour-temperature (-200), add some saturation & a little sharpening. Converted & saved as TIFFs...
          - Into Photomatix; merge to HDR & tone-mapped using details enhancer. Saved as a TIFF...
          - Into PhotoShop for a slight exposure adj, add some contrast & UnSharpMask. Save as a JPEG. Resized for upload & voila...

          Sounds a lot; but it took me less time to do that than it has to type this note!

          Cheers...

                    Fr1so, I thought you were joking

                    If you want to try this,

                    Wait until nighttime and turn off all the lights except the tree lights, set a longish shutter speed and move your lens around making small paterns, during the duration of the shutter speed.

                    The zooming is on a tripod zoomed between 24 and 60 ish mm, and the "painting" is hand held.

                    Mine were shot in daylight with the curtains drawn, let's see those "trippy" xmas tree snaps as well as the traditonal ones
