    Bark

During a walk this morning in the New Forest came across this fallen tree with some interesting patterns on the bark. Having taken some shots on the way back to the car i caught and fired thev shutter by mistake, so as the background of the tree shot was uninteresting I have replaced the background with the "mistake" shot

      Thanks HH
Must have walked past this stump a number of times without realising its potential for a shot

Great use of a "waste" shot. Do like the tree, looks like something from a story book, half expect a face to form and for it to start talking.

Nice Stan. Just shows that there is beauty in most things. I love the patterns in the wood.

Fabulous shapes in that bark, I like the shots and as has been said the use of the waste shot is great

Love the original. The close up looks like a satellite picture of rocky desert canyons!

                    Re: Bark

Well spotted - love the close-up in preference to the wider shot. The whorls and curves are very attractive, and I like the mosses/liverworts growing in the crevices in the wood (strictly speaking your title is not quite right, the bark having rotted away long ago as we are now seeing the harder wood exposed ).
                    Cheers, Chris.

Lovely shot with interesting shapes and 'contours'. It is true that great shots are all around us, we just have to see with a different eye!
