I still like the separation in Take 1.

Stan I prefer the separation in #1 but wonder what it would look like with the banana angled diagonally from bottom left to to right rather than being just about vertical

          Cheers Guys

I still like the separation in Take 1.
yes I think the seperation was about right in the very first shot but the peeling of the skin went all wrong and i also lost the banana tip

Stan I prefer the separation in #1 but wonder what it would look like with the banana angled diagonally from bottom left to to right rather than being just about vertical
Dee goes for the separation as well but I think it is just a bit too wide and one too many segments. I will get some more bananas tomorrow to try out much more of an angle and compose as a landscape rather than a portrait

have to ask what trickery you used to get the shot?
for the moment I will tell you what did not work. My original idea was to slice the segments and then attach them back with wire which could be cloned out later. As bananas are soft I stuck it in the freezer for a couple of hours and managed to attach one segment but when i went to add another, it was just too heavy for the wire and the whole lot collapsed in a mushy splodge so it was back to the drawing board

Another vote for the separation of the pieces in number one...

for the idea, do like this, could see it on the wall of some trendy place.

                  Thanks Di and Ray

Yes I think a bit of separation works better. Bought another banana yesterday and had another go with not quite so much separation

This may sound daft Stan, and correct me if this is what you are doing, but why not lay the banana on black card and shoot from above. If you are doing this I appologise now.

now that would be just too easy and where's the fun in that
Apart from anything else it would be difficult to control any shadows and without separation from the background would look false
