Peter - I like them both, but I think no.1 would be better if you left the decanter stopper out, and rested it next to the cigar at the base.

As shot, I think they both work very well, though. I'd definitely be pleased with them.

Peter, well done on both, but I like the composition of the 2nd image. It seems, for me, that it flows much better from the grapes to the last banana.

I'm with Tom, redo the top one when you have time with the stopper removed, and from eye level maybe.

                    Re: Options?

Peter, no 2 for me. I prefer the greater depth front to back, and the range of colours/tones.

                      Re: Options?

No1 for me. The apple is too pink rather than red and the bananas and grapes aren't 'perfect' which is one thing that the judges usually look for.

                          Re: Options?

Both very good images but I think #2 is most pleasing.

I don't know what is the norm for composition with still life, but I notice there is quite a lot of empty space on the right but very little on the left??

Both nice, I think the lighting though is far better in image#1 with the warm tones.

                            Good luck.

I love them both. I'm not qualified enough to know what the judges will be looking for but my personal preference is number 2.

I know nothing about this genre of photography so I'd love to know more about how it was done both in camera and in post.
