    Wine Bottle & Glass

Last night at camera club we were looking at glass, here are two images I took...

Wine Glass by cyberdavis, on Flickr

    Wine by cyberdavis, on Flickr

Neither is outstanding but I thought I'd share them.
Still life is something I feel I need to study a bit more as it's something I am not so confident with.

I do like the wine glass Andy, although on flickr, its a tad large here least viewing it on my 15" screen

I like them both and you've handled the reflections really well. Far too easy to catch the shooter or bystanders in the glass.

There is one problem with the second though, the wine is in the bottle still and not the glass

Shooting glass like this is really a problem with reflections and when I did a project a couple of years ago the only way I found to eradicate the reflection completely was to shoot with the glass backlit by the modelling light from a studio head with a softbox, in an otherwise totally dark room

Very well done Andy, reflective materials are difficult to light and photograph. I prefer the second image as it has less reflections on the glass. There is a photographer on another forum that I visit whose images focus on wine, wine glasses (including broken wine glasses) to achieve his images of this style he uses a mini studio which, as Stan alluded to is in the main totally dark.

Look fine to me Andy, especially the second with plenty of detail showing in the glass and bottle.

Trick of the camera I'm afraid! It was an empty we filled with a mix of apple juice and water, no wine was wasted during this shoot!
