    Bolts from the Blue

I needed some coachbolts for a project I am making for camera club and got a job lot of 100 but only needed a dozen of them so thought they would make a good photo subject. Shot in a blackened portable studio with a single bounced flash with blue gel

thats a really interesting shot Stan - personally I would have cropped the bottom so all the bolts showed just the thread rather than the bottom bolt - well done

I think that works as well as it concentrates on the "coach" part of the bolt and the blue although it loses the two nuts on each thread in the different positions, which was part of my idea for the shot. Having said that, it didn't quite work out as I had invisaged

Like the construction of the image - the blue gel adds to the metallic feel the bolts would give anyway

Think I prefer the original image. Cool.

Mind you, it's not one for framing and putting on the wall IMHO..........would give wall space to one of your birds or animals though!

agree, its not one for the wall or a competition, just a bit of fun

                          Re: Bolts from the Blue

Nice idea Stan and well shot with the blue gel. Personally I would have lost all of the nuts and cropped to the top section so to show the head and a part of the shank.

There are a few alternative ways of shooting, I may just shoot overhead next time to show just the heads
