Model display in aid of Kent Air Ambulance

The model flying club that I am a member of joined with a couple of other local clubs for the 3rd model display held at Rochester Airport in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance, it was a very hot evening but these are a few from the event.

There will be one more evening display this year at Rochester Airport on the 29th September starting at 5:30pm.

All these shots were taken with the 5D3 and 70-300L the first 3 of the Capiche were shot at 1/500, f8, ISO200 in manual mode. As the light was fading when the foamy jet was flown I switched to 1/320, f8, ISO400 again manual mode.

50cc petrol powered Capiche with a wingspan of just under 2.4m carries out a rolling circuit then drops into a low harrier pass before flicking into a prop hang.

What a great set. Model aircraft are so difficult, well my experience anyway, to get half way decent shots these are marvellous and great panning.
The 5D3 and 70-300 L is doing you proud.

Many thanks guys and especially thanks for the comments from the real model photography master. I find that the 5D3 and 70-300L are a great combination and the focus lock is very good.

                Hi Muscat,

Very good indeed, crystal clear, especially like the panning in 4 and 5.

                Regards Paul

A great set of images I especially like 4 & 5, with the background blurred it really shows off the planes.

Thanks John, it was a challenge to get that little foamy jet, it was amazing just how fast it was and being less than 900mm long it was easy to loose focus on it.

Thats what made them stand out for me, as I knew how hard it must have been to keep focus, superb.

Ian - it's been said in the posts above - but these are superb.

All are so sharp, and an obvious testament to your tracking, and focus skills!

                            Excellent set, sir.

                            All the best, Mike.
