    BSB rnd11 Silverstone

Spent Saturday and Sunday at Silverstone watching the BSB. Not a fan of Silverstone, especially as I got moved on by marshals a couple of times for shooting through media hatches. Decided I would have a play around with the post-processing and here are some of the results:

    #1 1/250, f/5.0, iso100, 180mm

    #2 1/800, f/5.0, iso200, 200mm

    #3 1/1000, f/5.6, iso200, 250mm

    #4 1/250, f/7.1, iso100, 255mm

Sorry Ian - great shots BUT the processing really isn't doing them any favours - they look dark 'bland' and noisy as hell - almost tempted to ask if you had shot these with a n*k*n and kit lens.

    Lets see the real versions

Thanks for the comment David. I think the processing applied is going to be a case of the Marmite factor, as a number of other people have liked them.

Fully understand the Marmite factor - I like all of them. Nice to see something a little different.

        Well done Ian.

I also agree with the marmite factor, I like marmite and I also like these numbers 2 & 4 are my favourites, I like that they are different and am not experienced enough to judge them on technical merit, I just like what I see !. Your right about the marshals at Silverstone, although I find the inconsistency more frustrating, you can take pictures from one spot one day but the next day you're moved on with no explanation, anyway rant over

          Nice photos for me

#2 and #1 are nice shots but I'm not sure about the square format.
I like the color that come out of the post processing, but not the grain pixellisation

              The technique looks spot on.
The processing gives the images something different from the normal, without looking overdone and cheesy.

I think they a great shots. As had been said - different.

As for silverstone - it may be good for the riders but its rubbish for joe public who want to take photos. I much prefer Donington and Cadwell as circuits especially for photography.

Number three for me, though I would like to see it more portrait style.

I keep coming back to your images and I think that the last one is superb. Can you give an idea on how you processed them

                          Andre,

initial processing was done in Lightroom 4. I specifically used a preset I downloaded from Matt Kloskowski's website (http://www.mattk.com/2012/09/17/ligh...photo-presets/) and then played around with the vibrance and vingetting. Then loaded the image into Photoshoped and added a high pass filter with a blend mode of Overlay.
