Zapcat Racing

Take an inflatable, stick a tuned 50hp outboard on the back, add a choppy sea and thats zapcat racing. Shot yesterday off Sandbanks, the light wasnt at its best but the wind whipped up the waves quite nicely

All shot in TV mode between 1/400 and 1/640. Didnt want to go any lower as I have not shot this racing for about 4 years

Awesome, have never seen these in action but will have to keep a look out now. Agree - the last frame with everything above the waves is the winner for sure!

Yes the last one is the shot to get but i could have done with a slightly slower shutter to blur the prop a bit more

Nice set. I've never seen this myself, but have seen the F1 Power boats.

yes , by the waters edge. Their official photographer wore waders and was actually standing in the water with his big lens. It was quite windy and rough so rather him than me

Just to show we're all different, well I am, I prefer the 3rd image as it shows not only the boat clearing the water but also the co-pilot hanging on to the various ropes. I presume he acts like the passenger in sidecar racing to balance the boat ? All cracking shots though Stan.

very similar, there are leather straps along each side of the hull at the front into which he can brace his feet and then hold on to the rope as he leans
