Struggling Surfer

In October (4th/5th)Scarborough holds the UK Pro Surf Tour, so i thought i would try my hand and capture some surfers at Cayton Bay which is a popular spot for the surfing community.

Unfortunately being a Monday there wasn't many surfers out just a handful of beginners who were struggling with the crashing waves lol.

Hopefully i and other forum members will get the chance to visit the Surf tour when it comes in October as there will be some good opportunities to grab some great action.

excellent set but that wall hitting photo is a gem - like the low down viewpoint as well

Is that set up, you've shot them with, hand hold-able ? ..

Hi Wayne

I used a tripod with this set up,but if i go to Scarborough for the surf festival i will use a monopod as i do for cricket, much easier to move around than using a tripod.

You have to feel sorry for the surfer he took a real beating not just that wave but quite a few others as well, and they call it fun!

Unfortunately the area is not were I cover,so even shooting the pro surf tour I won't be able to publish and Scarborough papers will have their own togs there so I don't want to upset them!

Really great set Paul, and have to agree with the others - #2 is a terrifically timed capture, as for other photographers - they wouldn't think twice if it was the other way, trust me, sad but true!
