Had a Aston Martin Drive at Brands Hatch today. How did i get the photo i hear you ask. Gave the old EOS50D with my broken Sigma 100-300 f4 to the missus and sent her to Druids in the rain, no settings to care about, set it on 'P' for her benefit. Now she wants to learn more.

Re: Me in an Aston
She can handle a camera that's for sure. Hope you had a great day.
For your big six 0 it might be a day out in a mobility scooterAlan.

Re: Me in an Aston
Nice photo - very very good for someone not familiar driving an SLR.
I drove an Aston at Silverstone a couple of years ago, for a very similar reason. Did you get the chance to really open it up around the short circuit at Brands? The V8 thunder at full throttle is absolutely biblical! Surprised you didn't mention that.
Was there a professional snapper there offering you prints when you got back to the pits? At Silverstone it cost me £25 (I think) for a couple of 10 x 8 prints plus a CD with the JPGs. Exif data said EOS 7D and 300mm f/4L so that was OK.

Yep open her up, the sound is awesome, very quick. Never felt out of control. In the brief before we went out the guy did say that the Vantage was a big powerful friendly monster.
Silverstone is fine and all that but it dose not have this thing called 'Paddock Hill Bend'. It's blind, it's steep and it drops away from you....and then it drops away from you again and the car goes very light, there is no other place on it on earth (race circuit wise that is apart from the Cork Screw at Leguna Seca), it's a pants rumbler of a hill, and you can't see ahead apart from tarmac, it's fantastic. I'm at Brands most weekends, I know it's a steep hill, from inside a car it's a different experience altogether. I even told the instructor "this is the only reason why I'm here". I think he enjoyed that, he wanted me to go faster at every time we got to Paddock, but the rain was heavy and I was worried my talent might run out.
I have a 7D myself and was not going to trust the wife with it along with my L lenses. They are my work tools. I use the 50D still today, It's my second body when at events.
Yes there was a photographer there but it was only 'you' exiting the pit lane from what I saw. And I did not want my picture from there, I wanted it at Druids (which is where it was taken).
She did well, she got soaked in the process, did not complain once. She enjoyed it very much.Gary

Re: Me in an Aston
Looks like you had a great time and I agree wholeheartedly about Paddock hill bend - when I did the Mustang day coming into it for the first time it was like "where the hells the track gone??" very scarey.
Ahh I remember well the day I offered a DSLR to Cory, "it's too big for my hands, too heavy etc etc" within 12 months we had 2 of almost everything and she is taking better shots than I (well that's what she thinks anyway - man I'm going to pay for that one)
BUT - honestly, having a hobby that we both share is awesome and I wouldn't have it any other way.
.DAVID.
