Fell Racing for very young to the more mature athlete.

Saturday was the last round in the junior fell racing championships and selection for the England junior team.

Held at Darwen the race starts in a nice park before heading out on the moors with the senior race covering a distance 3.7 miles, with 930 feet of climb.

I guess theses are half portrait and half sport action.

The races are done in age groups starting at Under 8

This first one need a little warming up really.



Then under 10



Moving through Under 12 and Under 14 to the Under 16



The Seniors being the last race of the day.



There were finishers in the over 70 group too.

I did use the flash on the third shot, but it's something I'm not confident in using.

I tend to leave it in ETTL mode and always think there is too much flash, I'll have to read up about fill flash and get some practice.

Excellent series. Looks like the 3rd shot needed fill in flash but the others look fine without it.

For fill in flash I use flash comp as -1 by default. It gives it just that little extra contrast

Brian'll do it, but you'll need to set a higher shutter speed, he's that quick!

Some good action recorded. I like the order of the shots from the youngest to the oldest
