    Hi Keith

you dont look like you had too many problems with the light and all three are nice and sharp but they look a bit static. I notice you shot at 1/640 for the first and 1/1600 for the other two. Really for any motorsport you should be aiming for a shutter speed below 1/250 so you get some wheel blur and a sense of movement. I always shoot Tv mode and most of the time yesaterday i was shooting at 1/160 and even down to 1/60 for the real slow moving oldies

I feel that the dust trail from the wheels tells me quite clearly it isn't a static shot. Panning may be the norm but this is a valid style - I prefer the first two.

Brian, Stan thank you both for your comments.
Stan on Friday there was too much light, I was trying to shoot with the lens as wide open as possible to blur the backgrounds hence 50 or 100 ASA/ISO to retain any detail in the white paint or chalk road I had to use much higher shutter speeds than is ideal, a polariser or ND filter would have helped.
As you say Stan lower speeds and panning is an option but not if you are tangential to the corner and going for the wheel lifting three quarters frontal view, what we all need is one of those white 'media' vests that gets you inside the corners for perfect panning.
I suppose part of the fun was using a six year old camera to focus a twenty two year old non USM lens on a moving subject, when the guy stood next to me was complaining that his 7D would either focus the EF100-400 L or run the IS but not both at the same time! (I guess user error as I have not seen that one before)

I like the RS's. (Had a RST in the 80's myself). Miss the Group B era and night stages in our forests and wilderness up here.

You could always add 'motion blur' in post processing ... but I can tell they are in motion without.

A 'slower' shot for Stan, when the very thin high clouds came over, still 50 ISO but 1/200th Sec. @ f/3.5, I was following the cars through the corner but I still would not call it panning as they were moving toward me not at right angles.

In my mind not so good as the faster shots, again all comments welcomed.

MX5, at that time I had a 1600 Sport with the closer ratio gear box, Bilstiens and a very open exhaust, not that fast top end but very quick round the lanes in East Yorks and nothing could touch me on a roundabout, mind I often used both lanes going sideways I think I was stopped by the old bill at least once a month and given a producer each time, happy days..............

Like the escorts... purely because my family used to have one and my Dad constantly told me how they were rally cars.
