Taken last Saturday at Sunderland we had a great day out and my first time trying to capture images of aircraft.

Exif ISO 400, f18, 1/320 at F-Length 280. Canon 50D, 70-200 plus 1.4mk111

Great shot, Well done for a first time,
Imo lower the shutter speed to get more prop blur, use exposure compensation to bring out the detail of the lancaster,Although she is difficult to get right with her escorts. use the full focal length of the lens to bring the subject closer.Slightly out of focus on the panning, but that comes with practice.

The OP was using his 70-200 + 1.4 @280. Only way to get closer is by using a longer lens

Thanks for your comments Paul, BTW I was at full stretch with this image. They didn't fly as close in as some of the other planes in the display but it was all good practice.
