I think that's a very nice image, the aircraft looks to be glowing hot. Nice capture!

You have done very well because 1/125sec is very slow to capture a jet and keep it sharp.

Your panning must have been on top form for that shot. Normally, shooting with the lens at 300mm, you would use a speed of at least 1/300sec and more likely 1/500sec and above. You used an aperture of f14, so opening up to f8 or f5.6 would have given you the higher shutter speed.

Is this the full shot, or have you cropped? The sunlight is quite wonderful where it is reflected of the plane, so well seen and well captured.

                Thanks for all the feedback!

Colin, it was a grabbed shot. I had seen others fly over, but this one looked like it was on fire, so I didn't have a lot of time to think! This was the only one of the series that was sharp enough to post here. And you are right, it is cropped... What Robert was describing in the magazine as digital telephoto!

                Thanks guys!

                  Good ol Robert.

Digital telephoto: Zoom in on the computer.

                  Expensive telephoto: L series Zoom.

Cheap telephoto: Walk forwards or backwards.

Couldn't make that work with this plane... Must be my technique at fault!

It does work, but you have to walk a lot further .................. very quickly!
