    'Blue' Spitfire?

Whilst at Donington this beauty flew round then down into east midlands airport, I am pretty sure it's a spitfire but 'blue'? that confused me slightly.

Sorry these are REALLY tight crops and a very grey sky

And that was all we got - just thankful I looked up at that second to see it

      Good capture.

The Spitfire you saw is the PRXIX (Photo recognisance). Notice it has no guns.

The colour was actually a bit strange - half way between blue and green. This was chosen to cause the high flying undefended Spit to blend into the sky.

(No I don't get invited to many parties.)
      Cheers

Please feel free to critique or rework my pictures unless I ask otherwise.

      Oh Lord won't you buy me a 300mm F2.8L (or at a push, a 200-400 F4).

You beat me to it Oggie. Stripped of all armament to save weight and increase speed and height, they were generally the fastest of all Spitfires for each Mark.

If it were me ............... gimme guns every time!

Thanks guys, Oggie - great knowledge and thanks for letting me know, for a lucky catch and such a tight crop I'm just glad to be able to see what it is [smiles]
