    LPG Bruntingthorpe. 01-11-14

    Hi All,

Went to the Lightning Preservation Group's evening fast taxi run last Saturday and had a superb time. Plenty of night time photography so I was a bit out of my usual comfort zone. I'm quite pleased with the results. More pictures can be seen on my Facebook Page - Neil Hutchinson Photography.

    Cheers,
    Neil

Oh how I wish I could see one doing a display again - magic watching it go vertical.

        I like it anyway.

Same here what is it about this country that when a plane reaches the end of its service life they are scrapped and not allowed to fly anymore yet in other countries its still flying

          Nice photo Neil

Do like the heat haze and the colour reflected along the aircraft

Thanks for the comments, Guys - always appreciated.

Tigger, I have another picture of the Lightning when it was further away, but it doesn't have anywhere near the same impact as the above. Personally, I think the last 1/3 of an aircraft wing is pretty boring, unless there's some ordnance hang under the wing, so I have no worries about chopping the wing tips off so I can get more fuselage detail. There are more pictures on my Facebook Page - Neil Hutchinson Photography - Frightning Lightning album. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...0098333&type=3

As for the machine itself - you guys want to get down to Bruntingthorpe at the end of May next year for the next Cold War Fast Jets taxi runs - the aircraft might not leave the runway, but the noise is bloody awesome!!!

                Cheers,
                Neil

I also like the composition as the tightness of it, the lighting and dramatic exhaust haze all bring about a sense of menace.

Sadly I've never seen one fly (are any still flying?) but there is one mounted at Castle Air in Cornwall <here>. Every time we'd pass in the camper taking the girls on holiday the cry 'plane on a stick' would go out. Now we take our grandsons camping but the same cry goes out as we pass.

                        Cheers,
                        John
