the first is a tad soft and looking at your flickr page I'm amazed its that sharp considering its at 1/15 !! is that correct?

the second is a nice shot

The first is a tad soft on most of the aircraft, it is sharper around the 'RAF RESCUE' and the wheel on the closest side. Not pin sharp I grant you but acceptable for the effect I was after (the rotor disc). I was surprised to get it that close to acceptable when you bear in mind the fuselage was rotating, tipping forward, changing altitude and starting to move from right to left at the time of the shot.

Both are shot at 1/15, that is correct. 1/20 doesn't quite make a disc.

The second shot is testament to how still the pilot was hovering!

agree!! - I'm surprised at 1/20 it didn't form the disc, but as I've never tried this I'll take your word for it - still stunning results at very slow speed

Thanks. A friend I was with was shooting at 1/20 and it nearly made a disc but not quite complete.

Nice, both are good. The first has a good composition and the second is better for me focus wise, but as I say, both are good.

Very good shots, and nice info on the use of shutter speeds and the effect that you were after.

Damn good for 1/15th, I have no chance of doing that.

                            Regards Paul

Great shots of a good aircraft, yes the crews who fly these are fantastic people. The coastline won't be the same now they have gone.
