Lovely shots Tony - what is the significance of the single checkered engine cowling?

              Re: Our Lass Sally

She was bought by the late Ted White who was the partner of Elly whom the Sally B was named after, he used to have a radial fighter with the same checkers on the cowling, so as a memorial to Ted who instigated and brought the B-17 to the UK, the cowl of No 3 engine was painted in those markings as a tribute to him.

Nice pics, Tony - I was wondering whether Sally B was going to turn up. Even the organizers weren't sure - first thing. Great aircraft to see, glad she made it.

                      Cheers,
